The Zapolya House, built in stone in the 15th century, served as the seat of the Transylvanian Diet, and later the residence of the provincial voivodes. Here Prince Ioan Zápolya died in 1540.
The History Museum of Valcea County is housed in the building of the former "School with Clock", a representative building for the Râmnicul town, from the 19th century.
